Our Kids and Gender Equality

Gender equality. I realise that this is a hot topic at the moment, and I’ve been reading about it for months. Angelina Jolie encourages her children to grow up gender free, as does Pink and many other celebrities have followed suit. As I write this blog, I’m already anticipating the outcry from those who don’t agree with me and I’m good with that; if we all had the same opinion then nothing would ever get done. As I’ve been reading the stories in the media with the celebrities allowing children to wear gender free clothing which entails girls and...

Our Travel Essentials – Carry on or Check In?

We’ve been weighing up the pros and cons of how we take our worldly belongings on our world tour; do we take a few more items and check the luggage into the hold, or shall we pack thriftily enough just to throw our backpacks over our shoulders take with us as a carry on? As our tour is starting in Asia, we guessed that the weather would be warm enough to leave our winter coats at home, until it was time to head to Canada during their winter time. The kids are big enough now to carry their own...

Chirk Castle – A Majestic Day Out

Last year we decided to join the National Trust and embarked on a UK tour of all the historic must-sees, before we left on our adventures around the world. We’ve visited Chirk a fair few times due to Mum previously having a cottage there and, of course, the famous Chirk Car Boot sale which is held every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, come rain or shine with lots of fabulous stalls with interesting items for sale. We had seen the castle from afar but as we drove up the long, winding drive up through the country lanes and toward...

Barmouth, the Jewel in Wales’ Crown

For many, many years we’ve visited North, Mid and South Wales, with its breath-taking scenery and rugged coastlines, there is so much to see and do, and you will be spoiled for choice. And, nestled in Cardigan Bay, is the super little town of Barmouth, or Abermaw if you’re Welsh, and this delightful holiday destination is a seaside resort that cannot be missed, even if you only visit for the day. If you are travelling to the UK for the first time and looking to visit Wales as part of your itinerary, then Barmouth MUST be on your ‘to-see’...

Just 3 Answers

So this week during teatime, I asked everyone to give me 3 selections; 1 place they want to go to more than any other whilst we’re away, 1 activity they’d like to do and 1 thing that they’d like to gain from the trip overall. L wanted to go to Japan, she wanted to have a day at Disney and she wanted to make lots of friends that she can visit again whenever she wanted (Mickey or Donald, she didn’t elaborate, I must ask). G wants to go to America, visit @jacksepticeye and at some point design and code...

Why do we home educate?

I get asked a lot about why we home educate, why do we treat our children differently to most children who go to school on a day to day basis. I certainly can’t speak on the behalf of anyone else who home educates, but I thought as my first home education blog post, this would be as good a place as any to start. My little boy, G, was a very vibrant, confident and outgoing little boy when he was younger. He was the life and soul at nursery, winking at all the caregivers, the same when he attended...
